MY CREATIVE PROCESS
Working on my capstone this semester taught me a lot about my own creative and production processes. I tend to struggle a lot with time management skills, but there were a few things I learned in my CPSA 250 class this semester that have really helped me improve how I manage my time. One of these techniques that I now utilize frequently is called single-tasking. As opposed to multitasking, the process of dividing one’s attention between two competing tasks (in academia, multitasking is becoming more commonly referred to as “switch tasking” because of how ineffective this process is at engaging maximum productivity and accuracy), single-tasking occurs when one is able to eliminate all distractions and focus in on a single task (Crenshaw). I have found engaging in single-tasking to be helpful and valuable, as it really aided with my ability to accomplish a lot within a certain time period, as well as increased my creativity levels due to how immersed I was in my capstone while single-tasking. Thanks to this new skill, I was able to complete my capstone presentation, exhibition statement, and flyer advertising the workshop, each in one sitting.
